THE LIGHTHOUSE PROJECT
Starting in 2023, The Lighthouse Project is an ongoing, long-term ritual project dedicated to reusing clothing and fostering emotional attachment to garments through memories and experiences.
This is the story of a character who visits lighthouses and records every visit to every lighthouse through instant photography and embroideries that keep on being added to a garment in particular. This garment is in a constant state of transformation, reflecting not only the lighthouse visitor's experiences but also their thoughts and feelings.
Inspired by the aesthetic of the senior cords, where American students decorated their clothing with drawings that represented their memories, hobbies, and interests, as well as the custom clothing of the US Marines, this nautical-inspired tunic stands out as a unique piece. It deconstructs these practices and encapsulates personal stories and connections.
